Well this year (2006) i finally visited another country. It wasn't that far a trip (NZ), but it's a step i guess. Doing a tour of the South Island was amazing. So i've now seen a fair bit of Australia and a nice sameling of New Zealand. I have been on a trip to Tasmania with my family. We spent a month there. It was really nice down there. Bit cold but a lot of cool history and stuff. The Port Arthur Ghost tour was cool but a bit spooky in parts (especially the old hospital and church). We also went squid fishing while we were there and went to the Cadbury factory. Yummmm :). I have also been on a cool Contiki tour of Hamilton Island down to Sydney. That was a great 12 days. I met a lot of cool people from around the world and a couple of Aussie to boot. Unfortunately i haven't kept in touch with them. Pics of that trip are under my photo's section. I've been to Melbourne 2 times now with family. Only for a few days though. Wouldn't mind going there myself one day just to see the differences. Maybe spend a week or so there. Through work i have been to Adelaide twice and up to Brisbane once. I've been to Brisbane before though. Adelaide is nice. Fairly slow compared to Sydney but nice. Some lovely churches and the fact that the city is surrounded by a park is cool. Although the fact that the tallest building in Adelaide is 20 stories is freaky (looks at Centerpoint or other high rises). In November/December 2003, i went around Victoria and Southern NSW for 3 weeks. This was a work trip but i got to see a fair few places. Places where we stopped included: Wangeratta, Sheperton, Mildura, Ballarat, Bendigo, Swan Hill, Griffith, Albury, Gelong, Melbourne. The trip was a long one with over 5800km's clocked driving from place to place in a Toyota HiAce (or similar). At least it had Air-Con :). All in all it was 3 weeks of travel more then anything but now i can say that I've been to the above places and seen places like Hay, Table Top and The Rock. I have a page of info about my outback vic trip Here I want to go to Perth and check that side of things out. Also wouldn't mind checking out the Northern Territory. Got to New Zealand thanks to linux.conf.au. Spent a week in Dunedin, then went to Christchurch, Lake Taho, Milford Sound, Queenstown, Fox Glacier, wellington, then 4 days in Aukland. It was really good catching up with the ihug boys. Has been way too long a time. I will add more details when i get a few more min.
