Geek
Well as you can already tell I'm a geek. I'm not as big a geek as some of the people i know but I'm defiantly a geek.. I define a geek (well computer geek as there are more then one type of geek in the world), as being someone who has a passion for computers and spends there spare time developing there knowledge and passion.

That kind of sums me up. I have a nice little home network setup (File-server, couple of workstations, and a gateway), and as you figured I have my own domain name (I own a couple of domains but the second one is more a work type thing then for novelty/personal use).

I love networks and networking. That is one of the main reasons i work for an ISP. I am studying for my CCNA (yeah when i have small amounts of time). I know how to operate Cisco, Lucent, Some Alteon based switches (layer 4 content switches) and basic foundry network products. I work mainly with cisco routers/switches and Lucent dial-up equipment.

I use Debian GNU Linux for both my work desktop and my home desktop/servers. It does everything that i need it to do so it's all good.

I sit on IRC a lot and also on ICQ (no I'm not going to publicly announce my icq# though). If you want to chat with me and we can go from there :).

Well I also have some of those geeky t-shirts which include
  • Bow Before me for I am Root
  • Hi I'm on a break (front), If you can read this I'm busy Bug off (back)
  • It must be User Error
  • SELECT * FROM management WHERE clue > 0, 0 rows returned
so as you can see i have the sysadmin type geek attire :).

BTW i don't always wear those t-shirts. But i do have a sort of BOFH image to keep up being a Sys Engineer anad all.
