School Life

Well My school life kind of looks like this

  • 1985-1990: St Jerome's Primary School
    Kindergarten through to Year 4
  • 1991-1994: St Johns College Lekemba
    Year 5 through 1/2 of Year 8.
  • 1994-1996: Patrician Brothers Blacktown
Other 1/2 of Year 8 through Year 10.
  • 1997-1998: Loyola College Mt Druit
    Year 11 and 12.
Yeah I did some moving in my life. In 1994 we moved from Punchbown to Blacktown.

St Johns College LebKemba

Well what can i say about St Johns. It was a fairly good school considering. But i don't think it was the school for me. I'm kinda happy that i moved out west at that stage. St John's unfortunately couldn't offer the same type of things that St Pat's could on one hand, but on the other it did offer other things. It was a different demographic i guess, and concentrated more on the labours then the technologies.. But oh well that's another chapter closed in the book of life ala ed.

Patrician Brothers Blacktown

Well what can i say about Patrician Brothers other then it was a meat head school who hated us people who were able to bring fame to the school without a sport being attached. But it was school for 2 and a bit years.

Patty Brothers (as we call it), was where i seriously got into music, started to get involved in other things such as St Vincent De Paul, and Debating. It's also where i met most of my friends which I've kept in contact with even now (over 10 years on).

Well on the musical front i started learning sax @ paddy bro's, also got involved in the school orchestra (if you can call it that), and got involved in other little musical things such as the James Joyce Competition group, and the 175 years of catholic school's extravaganza that was put on at Parramatta. All fun times in the end (will try to find photo's later).

Also got fairly involved in other things also. Helped look after the computer labs (thanks to john for me being a total geek now), and did Toastmasters which is a public speaking group/seminars.. Toastmaster s was a fun 12 week course involving doing impromptu speaking, prepared speeches and other things like that. Taught me a lot and helped me with my confidence when speaking in front of people.

All in all Paddy's wasn't too bad but it did come with it's share of crap also. But then again name a school which didn't... I think that there were a few teachers who defiantly made that place and now that they have moved on it's not as good as school as it once was (in my humble opinion)

Loyola College

Well what can i say about a school which basically made me who i am today so to speak. Loyola was the best choice I've made in my life to date. Basically the school allowed me to explore options that a larger school (over 200 per grade) wouldn't have. The fact that every teacher knew every student was a credit to the school.

While at Loyola i was involved in heaps of different groups and stuff. I was part of the physics club ( heh i know NERD), was a member of the student canteen group (helped run the canteen at lunch and stuff), was a member of the St Vincent De Paul group, was involved in all the school liturgy's, helped to run the school sound system for events, was the Secretary of the SRC (vice captain basically), was involved in the running of career's days, organised charity drives (Jeans for Genes day and Red Nose days to name a few), and when i had time helped out with various other things.

I also was involved in a JSS (Joint Secondary Schools) Tafe course in Music Industry Skills. That was a fun course which involved meeting some cool people and a few contacts for the music industry including Robbo, who was the lead singer in The Big NOB (Big Night Out Band), and RobZ who i later went on and learnt sound engineering through.

Also while at Loyola i met the first love of my life Kristy. Kristy and I (seen below), dated for a few years (2 and a bit to be exact), and were awarded the joke award of couple of the year at our year 12 formal (had to love being covered in a toilet paper sash).

Kristy, Myself, Anita, and Darren at our year 12 formal

Kristy and I split back in 1999 after i came to the decision that we just wanted 2 different things out of life. It was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make in life but i think it was the right one. From what i hear she's doing well but i haven't kept in touch for both our sakes. It meant giving up some good friends but if that's the price, so be it. Time will tell i guess.

That aside, Loyola was (and from what I hear still is even with the joining of the schools) a really great school and the Teachers were really good to all the students... It presented a heap of opportunities to me, including the ability to get into Uni (thanks to a dedicated career's teacher), gave me the confidence to look past the shortcomings of myself, and also re-enforced in me the value set which i was raised with.

I think I had some of my best times at Loyola... Too bad it had to end :(
