Windsor - Eton - Oxford
Written by Administrator
So i spent my first weekend in England sight seeing. On the saturday i did windsor (the castle, eton, the sight seeing trip around, walked through the streets of eaton and around windsor's main shopping area's etc).   Windsor castle is really nice.  It's amazing going into a room which has more history then the western settlment of your entire country. It's also quite amazing the job that they did restoring everything from the fire that went through in 92 or whenever it was.   The St George chappel was amazing. I went to service there in the evening just to listen to the choir. They sounded like it was from a CD. The organ reminded me of the one at St Mary's in the sound quality.     Eaton is a lovely little area (suburb or whatever). The price for the school is pretty steap (around 20k a year which translates to about 50k aus). The kids there are nuts. It's overcast, it's about 12 degree's outside, and they are on the Thames rowing and what not. And I saw a few of them fall in so i feel sorry for those porr kids.   Oxford is an interesting place. The is not one university in Oxford as holiwood would have us believe, however it is  instead multiple universities which specialise in mainly one facilty. So you have a university of medicine or one of science unlike us with a university that has multiple facilties.   The other interesting thing about oxford is the fact that students are not permitted to own a car. This means that there are litteraly hundreds of bikes around the place. The train station had about 200 bikes all locked up next to it. It's quite an amazing sight.
